Gabe Horstick has been passionate about real estate since acquiring his first investment property at just 23 years old. Over the past two decades, that early conviction has grown into one of Chicago’s most active independent real estate platforms. As Founder and CEO of Base 3, Gabe now owns and manages 740+ multifamily units across the city. He has completed or is currently developing more than 1,000 residential units and tens of thousands of square feet of commercial space — representing over $300 million in total real estate transactions.
Base 3’s competitive advantage lies in its full vertical integration. Through Base 3 Construction Inc., Gabe maintains in-house control over development and renovation. His proprietary property management and leasing platform handles operations and tenant placement internally, ensuring the design quality, cost discipline, and resident experience that define the firm’s reputation. This end-to-end model — from acquisition and construction through management and leasing — gives Base 3 a structural edge that few independent operators can match.
In addition to real estate, Gabe co-founded Staffolio, a rapidly growing international staffing firm that provides specialized offshore talent solutions for U.S. businesses. Across Base 3 and Staffolio, Gabe leads a team of more than 125 professionals spanning real estate, construction, property management, and staffing.
A licensed real estate broker in Illinois and Wisconsin, Gabe holds a double major in real estate and finance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is an active member of the Lincoln Park Builders Club and is deeply committed to the Chicago community — mentoring aspiring real estate professionals and supporting organizations including PAWS Chicago. Originally from Wisconsin, he enjoys summers back home with family.
Alec manages all stages of the deal process for Base 3, from acquisition through development to long-term stabilization. He specializes in unlocking value from mismanaged buildings and land sites. He has been involved in the acquisition and successful repositioning of all buildings in the Base 3 portfolio.
In addition to his real estate work, Alec is the co-founder of Staffolio, a staffing company that helps U.S. businesses scale efficiently by providing offshore virtual assistants at a fraction of traditional hiring costs.
Alec is a licensed real estate broker in Illinois and holds a double major in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys traveling to Spanish-speaking countries.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Alec is co-president of the Edgewater Uptown Builders Association (EUBA), an active member of Chicago’s Sit Stay Read book club for children, and a member of the Jewish United Funds YLD board.
